About Mount Pleasant Solar

The formerly proposed Mount Pleasant Solar LP site was to be located in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario. Specifically, the Project was to be located approximately 17 km southeast of Lindsay, ON, and 14 km west of Peterborough, ON. The Project size was to be proposed at approximately 9.5 MW, and consisting of photovoltaic (PV) modules, a racking system, and inverters on the site with access roads.

Community Engagement

We held a public open house at the Omemee Community Centre as an opportunity to build relationships, ask for feedback from stakeholders and introduce the project concepts. At the open house, we shared the project map that outlines the proposed preliminary project boundary. Participants also had a chance to ask project representatives specific questions on a one-on-one basis.

Ontario's Large Renewable Procurement (LRP) Process

In November 2014, the Ontario Power Authority, now the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), developed a new competitive process for the procurement of renewable energy projects generally larger than 500 kilowatts (kW). This new process allows for eligible proponents to submit a bid by September 1, 2015. The Large Renewable Procurement process encourages stakeholder engagement, Aboriginal participation and sharing early site work information with the community.
